"Remember folks, we're all mad here."
“Words from Eldrick”
I never considered pursuing a career in tattooing. I have been drawing since age 12. As time passesd and my drawings got better I would design tattoos for friends so they could get work done. One of these designs garnished me with an apprenticeship in Ontario and I was very happy to start a new journey. I moved back to N.S and did a 20 year run in Halifax tattooing one of the busiest studios in the city. As all good things, come to an end, I moved back to my home town of yarmouth, Cassandra & I opened the Mad Tatter.

• Leave the bandage on until the next morning unless otherwise instructed by your artist.
• Starting the next morning, wash your tatto 3x a day until healed (Approximately 5-7 days). Make sure your soap is unscented NO PERFUME or DEODORANTS. We recommend DOVE SENSITIVE or Aveeno, if any other brand is used that is not artist approved the guarantee becomes void.
• Use a small amount of A&D ointment 3 x's a day after you wash your tattoo and gently massage it into the tattoo for 2-3 minutes. Pat off any extra ointment using a paper towel. Repeat this for 5-12 days until no scabbing/flaking is left in the tattoo. (If you require more time to heal continue to use the A&D until healed).
• Use A&D sparingly, too much can clog your pores causing red bumps to appear, almost like a heat rash. If that happens stop using for 24 hours then go back to the A&D but use much less. USE UNTIL FULLY HEALED
• Once all scabbing has gone and there are no shiny spots left, (usually 7-10 days) you can use a moisturizer if you find your tattoo is too itchy. Use one that has no perfume or deodorant added. Avceno, Cetaphil, and Curel are all great UNSCENTED products. Using moisturizer too soon will will affect the healing process and the end result of your tattoo. Only switch to moisturizer when completely healed, there should be NO scab left on your tattoo. Once the top layer of your tattoo has pecled away just use the moisturizer when your skin foels dry and itchy.
• DO NOT pick or scratch your tattoo while it is healing -this will damage your tattoo and void our guarantee.
• DO NOT GO TO THE GYM!!! You must give your tattooed area time to heal. Do not work that body part until fully healed or you will void the guarantee.
• NO SWIMMING or TANNING for two weeks. Please consider this when planning tattoos around vacation time or if you are involved in sporting events.
• NO BATHS until healed. You want to avoid "water logging" your tattoo. Stick to a shower and avoid the water beating onto your tattoo.
• DO NOT Shave over the tattoo area until it is flat and smooth like the surrounding area.
• NO TIGHT CLOTHING OVER TATTOO, you want to avoid chafing.
• DO NOT use anything other than the A&D ointment provided and the other products we suggest for after care.
• If you use any other products to clean and heal your tattoo you assume all liability for damage incurred and the guarantee is void.
• Some areas will swell, scab heavily, and take longer to heal due to location choice, Don’t be alarmed, it's a normal part of the healing process.
• If your tattoo comes with a guarantee that will cover against the “Tatto Defect” this guarantee covers spotty fading of lines due to: Spottiness caused by colours that didn't take or faded beyond normal wear. All touch ups must be approved by the artist. The guarantee DOES NOT COVER normal fading due to time or sun exposure, spots left from picking or scratching, improper after care, self inflicted damage that comes from swimming, tanning and bathing.
